While you should all go visit the Inside Out Project site to view some of the amazing portraits and projects that are already underway , this one from Haiti makes your heart sing!

RISING SOULS, HAITI 

RISING SOULS, HAITI is an opportunity to show Haiti through Haitian eyes, through faces filled with hope, pride and resilience.It is an opportunity to show a new side of Haiti and create a true and meaningful interaction between Haitians, regardless of age, color and social status.

The project is a collaboration between volunteer photographers based in Haiti and kids from the workshop, Fotokonbit. Check out their Facebook page to see the beautiful portraits already loaded up.

Fotokonbit is a community of photographers building an archive that shows Haiti through Haitian eyes. Fotokonbit is a non-profit organization created to empower Haitians to tell their own stories through photography. They also teach photography workshops to children and adults.

Fotokonbit is a non-profit organization based in Miami, Florida and they are looking for donations of camera gear or you can purchase any of their great images. More info on how to contribute.

Camp Perrin: These photographs were made by workshop participants in Camp Perrin, an agricultural community in Southern Haiti and in a tent community in Peguyville, Port-au-Prince.

Lavi Jodiya: The following images were made by FotoKonbit workshop participants in the tent communities of Carredeux, Parc Acra and St. Therese. Workshop participants documented their communities and photographed both positive results of aid in their communities as well as issues that still needed to be addressed. The photographers presented their work to the international aid community in Port-au-Prince.

The Inside Out portraits will be pasted on the walls of Port-au-Prince on January 12th 2012, the 2nd anniversary of the earthquake.

Haiti will wake up to the faces of it’s people plastered across the city – a startling visualisation of a country being reborn.

Recently on KickStarter I contributed to a film project called EverybodyStreet. Filmaker and photographer Cheryl Dunn was raising funds to turn a short film she made on behalf of the Seaport Museum New York into a full length documentary feature. I am happy to report that she made her Kickstarter funding goal. Everybodystreet is a unique and groundbreaking film that delivers an intimate portrait of some of the most important New York art photographers to emerge since the 1930’s.

Her cinematic compilation includes interviews, photographs, and candid footage of the artists, exploring their lifelong dedication to New York as their photographic subject.

Our statement for the Inside Out Project – is that “We’ve got your back”. We are standing up for those that get bullied – be it at school, at work on anywhere in life – young or old.

As part of the project we are going to paste very large posters of our faces in a public space – and we want you to help us choose which of our photos we should use!!!
